The Consequences Foundation Mission:
The Consequences Foundation mission is to provide educational resources and experiences for at-risk youth that include scholarships, vocational training, camps, workshops and after school activities encompassing dynamic curriculums that address culture, the arts, lifeskills and career aptitude discovery and workforce preparation. Embarking on a new alliance with Teach for America, the Foundation is working to support transformational learning in the form of prevention, intervention and in lieu of incarceration.
The Programs:
The Consequences Curriculum:
A video experience designed to teach children the consequences of their actions and provide them with hope, inspiration and a path that they can build on to improve their behavior and create a different outcome for their life. Encouragement from sports stars, businessmen, “scared straight” with stories from people who have “been there," celebrities and others who have successfully changed or created a new life present the content that explores their options for a second chance.
Educational Scholarships / Vocational Training / Career Workshops:
The Consequences Foundation has created alliances with educational institutions and career counselors to insure that the kids successfully working their JSD treatment plan can access opportunities to turn their treatment plan outcome into a sustainable model for their future. We provide scholarships, admissions assistance, mentoring, internships, career aptitudes development workshops and other programs designed to create access to education and training for career development easily.
Talent Development & Exposure To Art, Music, Design & Culture:
Throughout the year, The Consequences Foundation will offer unique opportunities for kids served by the JSD to learn to express themselves non-violently and creatively through the arts. In the form of after school programs, workshops, summer camps, events and on-going scheduled activities for education, this exposure and training in the arts programs are offered through our alliance partners who are leaders in their field of expertise. In all cases, the kids will finish the course with an accomplished project and an understanding of cultures, art forms and kinds of expressions through art, music, film, etc. Special emphasis is given on what careers or jobs exist in their area of interest at the end of each course or program.
Custom Public Works Projects / Initiatives:
Working with corporate sponsors, The Consequences Foundation may seek unique projects in the county for the kids to work on where their contribution will be in shown in public venues to create awareness of the project, program and the individual child’s talents. It is our goal, working with JSD, to create positive press about the success of these programs and how Miami Dade County government and citizens are working together as a model program to be replicated throughout the country and the world.
The Violence Intervention Project (VIP):
Custom programs, such as Poetry Jams, will be created to support the VIP Program offered by JSD. This program seeks to provide early intervention and prevention to at-risk youth.
LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCES
All of the alliance partners working with The Consequences Foundation believe that children can reach their fullest potential, become resilient, productive, innovative, successful people who believe in themselves only if someone believes in them. This belief, a strong commitment to “making the effort,” tracking the results and marketing this exclusive program will result in a greater, stronger, community at large.
